I'd been looking for a Stromboli that I remember from years ago .
I saw that Luigis had one.
I arrived at about 530 pm, and as you'll see, there was little business.
I asked the waiter about the Stromboli. His answer prompted me to order one.
As I've said before, I'm not a "Foodie ."
The rolls were OK, but I didn't "get" the bowl of olive oil with spices.
My order arrived in a timely fashion.
As you can see,the Stromboli looks very good and looks did not disappoint!!!
The crust was baked to perfection. The ingredients were well cooked. The side of marinara was quite tasty.
If I weren't hungry, this meal would have served two.
I guess my my only complaint would be the price. With a tip, it was just over $20.
All in all, it was a good experience and I'll be back!
I don't know if you'll read and see !
I came back for the same meal after 3 weeks.
I'm sad to say I was disappointed and confused.
If you will look at the pictures, you'll see why.
It had to have been a different cook.
It was still tasty but the distribution of "stuffings" is obvious.
The first was not scorched.
Notice the difference in "scraps".
Now confusion.
The first bill was nearly $21 with tip.
I don't think I added anything but I didn't keep the receipt.
The second, with a decent tip, was $3.29 less!
There's probably an explanation.

You can trust the reviews, this place is AMAZING!! We went for the first time today and we loved the atmosphere and the food is DELICIOUS (the Lobster Ravioli with Shrimp is the best of the best). The service is EXCELLENT, we had Jillian as a waitress and she is FANTASTIC, she explained the entire menu and advised the wine options. We loved the experience.

Context:
I am in Abilene for a conference.
I come a few times a year.
I ordered soup and salad, Caesar and minestrone, with a side of meatballs and marinara.

What I liked:
They are playing the music my DeSanto grandparents listened to at home… Dean Martin “That’s Amore”, nat King Cole’s “Mona Lisa.”
So that, along with the old school low lighting and booths, made the atmosphere enjoyable to me.

The service was good. No complaints.

The value was good. I got a filling meal at a good price.

Nothing about the food was offensive or unacceptable.

What I didn’t like:
The food was 3 out of 5.
I ordered meatballs were ok, but the marinara was cold.
The minestrone soup was ok, but the vegetables and noodles were mushy… didn’t seem like it was made in the last day or two.
The Caesar salad was ok. But the dressing tasted like a mass produced food service product.

Again, not horrible, but with a little more attention to quality, it could be great. If this were Dallas, the expectations would be higher and I would have rated three stars instead of four. But context is important.

Pros:
Atmosphere
Service
Value

Cons:
Middle of the pack food.

I have loved this place for a very long time. On this trip, we had no wait the night before Thanksgiving. They quickly made adjustments for us when we asked for a bigger table. My food was delicious and everyone enjoyed themselves. Unfortunately, my sis in law and my mom ended up getting sick that night around the same time so we think it may have been the food. :((( I know my family won't be back but I hope it improves and stays around for years to come.

Still pretty good, but I haven't seen the garlic rolls anymore and the portions are smaller.
Chicken Parm in image.

Chicken Florentine and chicken parmigiana are my go to. I've had two different type of rolls there, one is airy and the other is thick. Just depends on when you go. The house merlot and sangria are good. The mushroom soup and house salad are safe picks. The stuffed mushrooms are juicy and flavorful. Seating is comfortable, some booths are worn. The lighting is great easy on sensitive eyes. Staff is friendly. Parking can be tricky if you have a low car.
The tiramisu was okay but not as creamy/rich as other places.

The best itilian in abilene, and the only place a I can get the my vilified veal fix. Their negroni's are the best!!! Anything on their menu is good. My only concerns were with the wait staff. They need a floor monitor or something ( cattle prod). Every time I go there, the wait staff has been slow to great/seat/serve. Other than that, I love this place.

Fantastic dinner!!! Mozzarella sticks with awesome marinara sauce, Lambrusco (so good) We had baked ziti with pink sauce and chicken parm. Husband said the breading was perfect. We ate too many rolls which were also very good.
